EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEHT) — Residents of Vanderburgh County expressed frustration as the county commission passed an ordinance regarding septic receiving pits.
One by one residents of Vanderburgh County pleaded their case as to why the commission should table a vote regarding septic receiving pits. Their pleas failed as the ordinance was passed to allow pits in areas zoned m-1 or m-2 properties. M1 and M2 areas feature light and medium industrial properties- typically found close to residential homes and small businesses.
Resident Ashlee Bowlds has been fighting against this ordinance since last year creating a petition that received over 100 signatures. She says this worries her as raw septic sludge will be only a handful of feet from the homes of families…
