Coast Guard detains Mexican nationals five miles off Point Loma

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — The U.S. Coast Guard intercepted a boat that was seen crossing the maritime boundary off the coast of San Diego on Thursday, and transferred three Mexican nationals that were on board to Border Patrol custody.

The Coast Guard reports a boarding team assigned to the 87-foot Marine Protector-Class Coast Guard Cutter Narwhal (WPB-87335)  was sent to investigate a suspicious boat that was seen crossing the maritime boundary line near Point Loma.

The Coast Guard team intercepted the boat just five miles off the coast of Point Loma without any need for use of force.
