LIVE BLOG: Severe storms move into the Rockford region

  • More strong storms possible tomorrow and Friday

(WIFR) – Severe storms are expected to move through the region Tuesday afternoon and evening. The Storm Prediction Center has put the area at a Level 3 (Enhanced) risk, which means there could be damaging winds, lighting and periods of heavy rain. The primary threats will be large hail and strong tornadoes.

LIVE BLOG:

10:15 p.m.: Stephenson County Sheriff Steve Stovall reports high winds caused a barn to cross Route 73 near Pearl City, taking out some power lines. Stovall also mentioned tree damage caused by the high winds. Stovall reports no injuries have been reported.

9:45 p.m. Hundreds without power in Stephenson County. ComEd Outage Map shows around 500 customers affected near Pearl City, around 600 customers affected in Freeport. Estimated restoration times vary.
