ALBANY — 7-Eleven, the massive convenience store chain based in Japan, is aiming to close 645 locations in North America this year as its parent company looks to hold an initial public offering in 2027.
7-Eleven owns nearly 40 stores in the Capital Region, mostly under the Speedway brand, that sell gas and convenience store items. The company made a big push into the Albany market in 2020 when it acquired 3,900 Speedway stores in 35 U.S. states for $21 billion in cash from Marathon Petroleum Corp.
