CARTA board to meet after council gives green light for Ladson fairground land acquisition

LADSON, S.C. (WCIV) — CARTA will be holding a board meeting Wednesday after the Charleston County Council approved their request for the use of eminent domain to acquire the heavily debated land at the Ladson Fairgrounds.

According to CARTA, they plan to meet to discuss the future of the Lowcountry Rapid Transit Project, which plans to build a Park-and-Ride facility on a six-acre plot of land that is owned by the Exchange Club Fair.

The land required for the project has undergone a lengthy acquisition process, with many not wanting to see the facility take away from the much beloved Costal Carolina Fair that takes place at the Ladson Fairgrounds annually…
