One arrested for murder in connection to shooting at Evansville movie theater

HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT)- One person has been arrested following an investigation into a shooting on Evansville’s west side on Tuesday evening that left one person dead.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office says 19-year-old Kardae Langley was arrested and charged for his part in the alleged incident. According to deputies, Langley knowingly took part in an attempt to rob the victim of marijuana vapes along with two other individuals in the parking lot of the AMC Theater on Pearl Drive.

According to an affidavit, during the incident, Langley, along with two other individuals, identified as 19-year-old Deshawndre Brown and 18-year-old Pierce Butler, had arrived before the victim and got into their vehicle. Langley had been instructed to move boxes of vapes from the victim’s vehicle. Deputies say that at this time, Langley heard the victim and Brown begin to argue, and a short time later heard gunshots coming from the victim’s vehicle. Brown and Pierce then exited the moving vehicle and got into Langley’s car as they fled the scene. According to an affidavit, Langley then paid Brown $500 for a portion of the stolen vapes before dropping Brown and Butler off on the southeast side of the city.

Deputies were able to use flock cameras to identify Langley’s vehicle and located it in the parking lot of a business in the 2800 block of North Green River Road. Langley was found to be the sole occupant of the vehicle and was taken into custody. Langley faces charges of Murder and Robbery…
