Local high school students compete for safest teen driver

High school students with the best driving skills from the Erie area competed for a chance to win a thousand dollars

For the 18th year, PennDOT partnered with the Northwest Chapter of the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association and several community safety partners to host the teen driver safety competition.

Erie County holds logic, accuracy test ahead of May primaries

The competition consisted of written exams, an obstacle course, and a vehicle safety assessment conducted by driving experts and law enforcement

“All of those scores are added together, we come up with the top three students. $1,000 is awarded to the top students, 500 is awarded to the second place, $250 is awarded to the third place,” said John Zaphiris, a Great Lakes Insurance account executive.
