MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Energy Institute of Alabama recognized the state’s lineworkers during a Lineman Appreciation Day event held at Dixie Electric Cooperative in Montgomery.
When weather impacts Alabama, lineworkers are first on the scene to restore power to affected communities by replacing damaged poles, repairing downed lines and clearing the way for others to help. It’s a dangerous job, and lineworkers often put themselves in harm’s way in the process.
“Most of us don’t realize how hard of a job it is to keep the lights on,” said Clay Scofield, president and CEO of the Energy Institute of Alabama. “But these linemen do it every day, and the Energy Institute wants to recognize that and thank them for their commitment to ensuring that Alabamians have the power they need.”…
