Defense contractor Textron expanding operations in southeast Louisiana

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — Textron Systems Corporation, a defense contractor, is expanding its operations in southeast Louisiana across multiple sites.

According to Louisiana Economic Development officials, the projects span three of the company’s existing facilities in St. Tammany and Orleans parishes. They aim to expand their manufacturing and engineering of military vehicles and naval systems.

The projects will be developed in phases, beginning with a $5.3 million investment at the Gause Boulevard facility, followed by a $500,000 investment at the Stone Road facility to expand manufacturing capacity. They will invest $5.8 million across the two sites in Slidell.

The company is expected to create around 133 direct new jobs while retaining 761 current positions. Officials said the project will result in around 223 indirect new jobs, for a total of 356 potential new job opportunities…
