ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) β An unusually warm pattern will grip north Georgia through Saturday, with temperatures climbing well above normal and potentially breaking daily records.
A ridge of high pressure will keep Georgia locked in warm, dry conditions through the end of the week. High temperatures Thursday will reach the upper 80s, with some areas in east-central Georgia climbing into the low 90s — 10 to 15 degrees above normal for mid-April.
Friday will be even hotter, with highs expected to be 12 to 18 degrees above normal. Atlanta, Athens, Macon, and Columbus could all see daily record highs approached or broken as temperatures climb into the upper 80s and low 90s.
Stay Cool and Hydrated
As temperatures soar, you should take precautions:
- Stay hydrated throughout the day, especially during outdoor activities.
- Limit outdoor activity during peak heat hours of the afternoon.
- Check on vulnerable friends and family, particularly the elderly.
- Never leave children or pets in vehicles.

Weekend Showers, Cooldown Coming
The pattern will change Sunday when a cold front moves through north Georgia. High temperatures Sunday will be 15 to 20 degrees cooler than Saturday. Monday morning lows could dip into the 40s across north Georgia, with widespread 40s expected again Tuesday morning.
