Lexington County approves $758K mass casualty bus to improve emergency response and patient transport

LEXINGTON, S.C. — Lexington County leaders have approved the purchase of a new mass casualty bus, a move officials say will improve emergency response during large-scale incidents.

The specialized vehicle will allow EMS crews to transport multiple patients at once, reducing the need to use several ambulances during emergencies.

“This is nothing new to Lexington County. We’ve had some refurbished school buses in the past that we upfitted for this type of casualty situation where there’s multiple injuries and instead of tying up multiple EMS units, we can use this bus to transport patients.
