New joint river patrol unit to safeguard Ohio River shoreline

EVANSVILLE, Ind (WEHT) – The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Office and Evansville Police Department will unveil a new dedicated joint effort to patrol the Ohio River for the first time in more than 25 years.

Sheriff Noah Robinson announced both agencies will unveil its new Join River Patrol Unit on Friday at 10 a.m. at Evansville Dress Plaza.

Robinson says this reestablishes a dedicated effort to cover about 36 miles of Ohio River shoreline within Vanderburgh County, including the port of Evansville, while also providing assistance to neighboring jurisdictions…
