EPISD weighs buyouts for upper administration amid looming budget shortfall

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The El Paso Independent School District (EPISD) is considering early retirement buyouts for senior central office staff as the district braces for a massive budget shortfall next school year.

The district placed an item on the board meeting agenda for Tuesday, April 21, to discuss a proposed financial incentive for central office employees who announce their departure early.

If approved, the 2026 Resign/Retire Early Notification Incentive Program would offer a $3,000 payout to all full-time central office personnel who submit written notice of their intent to resign or retire by May 8, 2026…
