SAN ANTONIO, Texas — A San Antonio man has been sentenced to 37 months in federal prison for tax evasion, according to the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas.
Juan R. Gonzalez, a 52-year-old owner of a residential construction business in San Antonio, was found guilty of evading federal income taxes during the 2020 and 2021 tax years, stated court documents. Gonzalez, operating under the name Gonzalez Construction, reportedly earned approximately $1,030,079.45 in taxable income without filing tax returns, resulting in a tax liability of about $370,752.64.
Gonzalez, who has a prior conviction for tax evasion in 2011, was indicted in May 2025 on 22 counts, including tax evasion, structuring currency transactions, and identity theft.
