Orange cones and police tape surrounded Archie Spigner Park in Jamaica and its ball field across the street in South Jamaica, along with the Greater Allen AME Cathedral of New York after a Long Island man was killed last Friday.
An NYPD spokeswoman told the Chronicle that the victim, Richard Carter, 49, of South Cottage Street in Valley Stream, was shot multiple times in the torso at Merrick Boulevard and Sayres Avenue, within the vicinity of the 113th Precinct. Police received a 911 call about the shooting at 2:21 p.m.
“EMS transported him to Jamaica Hospital [Medical Center] and he was pronounced deceased,” said the spokeswoman. “No arrests. The investigation is ongoing.”…
