Dr. Amy Acton served as Ohio health director during a critical time as the world was dealing with an unprecedented pandemic and confronting a previously unknown disease. She had responsibility for making some tough decisions, issuing orders for health measures that she did not necessarily want to issue but had responsibility to do so in her position.
Acton did this for the benefit of all of us, including those who objected to what they considered as impositions. Protest is, of course, a First Amendment right, but those picketing outside her personal private residence at the time, with some openly armed, were beyond the pale.
