Catfish, burgers, boudin balls and more on the menu of this longtime Shreveport restaurant

Some colleagues and I decided to walk over to the longtime downtown Shreveport restaurant Blind Tiger for lunch.

I always assumed (incorrectly) that the name had some sort of connection to the mascot of our state university. But I learned that a “blind tiger” was the name commonly used to refer to a place where liquor was illegally sold during prohibition.

Shreveport’s Blind Tiger has been operating (legally) for almost 34 years, opened in May, 1992, by Glenn Brannan and Rick Sloan.

Blind Tiger serves Cajun and Louisiana specialties as well as nice big burgers. The tables and the bar at the restaurant was almost full when we arrived and the atmosphere was relaxed and lively…
