Berry Middle School assistant principal returns to work after January arrest

HOOVER, Ala. (WBRC) – Berry Middle School assistant principal Shonteria Culpepper has returned to work after she was arrested earlier this year, WBRC confirmed.

Jail records show Culpepper was charged with misdemeanor DUI and booked into the Birmingham City Jail Jan. 1, 2026.

A spokesperson with Hoover City Schools says administrators are aware of the situation and that the incident occurred “off-campus and outside of work hours.”

Culpepper, who is listed on the school’s website as a 6th grade assistant principal, is back at work now after what was described at “non-disciplinary leave.”…
