State Police investigator charged with assault in Wappinger domestic incident

WAPPINGER — A New York State Police investigator assigned to the Bureau of Criminal Investigation in New York City was arrested Thursday night following a reported domestic dispute at a residence in the Dutchess County town of Wappinger, authorities said.

State Police said troopers responded to the home at about 10:24 p.m. on Thursday after receiving a report of a domestic incident. The alleged victim told police they were struck and prevented from calling 911 by the investigator, 28-year-old Brian D. Huyghue Jr., according to police.

Huyghue was taken into custody and charged with third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal mischief. He was later arraigned in Wappinger Town Court and released on his own recognizance. A temporary order of protection was issued on behalf of the victim…
