Grand River flooding prompts Kent County road closure preparations

KENT COUNTY, MI — The Kent County Road Commission is preparing for additional road closures this weekend as the Grand River is projected to crest Monday, officials announced.

Flood warnings have been issued for the Grand River near Comstock Park, the Thornapple River near Caledonia, and the Rogue River below Rockford. Flooding is also possible along other rivers, creeks, streams, and low-lying areas across Kent County.

River levels have risen since last week, and with already saturated ground, additional rainfall this weekend is expected to further increase water levels. Some roads may become impassable with little notice, particularly in low-lying locations…
