Diesel leak from crash triggers hazmat response in Ottawa County

GEORGETOWN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A single-vehicle crash involving a box truck triggered a hazmat response Friday afternoon in Ottawa County.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened shortly after 1 p.m. Friday at the intersection of Bauer Road and 40th Avenue. A 40-year-old man from Wyoming was driving the truck when he left the roadway, struck a fire hydrant and crashed into a nearby creek.
