Remains of fallen High Point WWII soldier finally returned home: ”Ultimate respect to the family’

HIGH POINT, N.C. (WGHP) — After more than eight decades, a North Carolina soldier who died as a prisoner of war during World War 2 is finally back home.

First Sergeant David Crouse died in 1942 in the Philippines. On Friday, his remains returned to the Piedmont Triad International Airport, bringing him back to where his story began.

Susan Hurst, a relative of Crouse, and her husband Terry said that Crouse enlisted in the Army in High Point in 1908.
