San Diego’s Ruffin Canyon Trail finally connects Mission Valley and Serra Mesa

SAN DIEGO — A long-awaited connection between two San Diego neighborhoods is now complete.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Friday for improvements made to Ruffin Canyon. The upgrades establish a safe route between Mission Valley and Serra Mesa. The project, more than a decade in the making, features three new wooden footbridges, rerouted trails along the canyon walls, and restored wetland areas.

“Today we get to celebrate one of our biggest wins, a brand new trail is opening thru Ruffin Canyon. This is a win not just for our organization only, but for so many trial users who live and play here,” said Peter Hulburt of the San Diego Mountain Biking Association, one of the groups that helped make sure the project was completed…
