Woman found guilty and sentenced for 2023 fatal wreck in Amarillo

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) – A Randall County jury has sentenced a woman after finding her guilty of two counts of Intoxicated Manslaughter. Rayna Elizabeth Smith, 22, was sentenced to five-years in Texas Department of Criminal Justice and a $10,000 fine for each count.

Smith was arrested following a wrong way wreck near McCormick on I-27 back in October 2023.

That wreck killed two people. Smith was found to have been intoxicated at the time of the wreck.

The wreck also lead to a lawsuit against the business in Amarillo believed to have served Smith drinks that night.

The trial began on April 6, and and ended Friday April 17 around 2:30 p.m…
