Rock County residents wake to flooding, storm damage

EMERALD GROVE, Wis. (WMTV) – Residents in Janesville and Rock County woke up Saturday morning to major damage and flooding from severe weather that moved through Friday night.

Emerald Grove, a small community about seven miles east of Janesville, saw trees downed, barns damaged, and water and corn stalks filling the ditches along South Emerald Grove Road.

Ingrid Daudert is dealing with a flooded yard. She said it’s hard to know what to do with her property when it has suffered major damage from weather events in the past.

“It’s just so hard to know when to stop caring and when to stop just working at trying to keep your property nice and all that because insurance doesn’t cover this kind of stuff,” Daudert said. “It covers the structures, but it doesn’t cover yard and landscaping issues and things like that, so that you’re on your own for. And that gets tiring after a while. Especially when it happens year after year after year.”…
