Three men charged for shooting, killing man in downtown Albuquerque in 2021

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Three men have been charged for a deadly shooting that took place in Downtown Albuquerque in 2021.

Joseph Silva, 23, Elias Barron, 24 and Adrian Avila, 22, are each charged with an open count of murder, attempted armed robbery, conspiracy, shooting at or from a motor vehicle, and tampering with evidence for the death of Rafael Torres on Aug. 3, 2021.

Albuquerque Police said at the time of the murder on Aug. 3, 2021, Silva was 17, Barron was 18; and Avila was 16. Detectives determined the trio planned to rob Torres of $2,000 in cash and a gun he allegedly bragged about during a gathering in the area of 7th Street and Gold Avenue SW, police said.
