A Summerfield driver is behind bars after troopers say his pickup truck rear-ended a Marion County school bus that was stopped to pick up students last Monday, then took off. The bus was packed with Belleview High School students, and several riders suffered minor injuries that were checked out by emergency crews, according to investigators.
Crash Near Summerfield Pickup
The collision happened just before 8:30 a.m. near Southeast 145th Street and Southeast 38th Terrace, when a pickup failed to slow down and hit the back of the stopped school bus, according to ClickOrlando. Troopers described the vehicle as an average-sized truck painted white, blue, and orange that left the scene before law enforcement arrived. The bus driver was not hurt, and emergency crews evaluated students at the scene.
