Coastal Alabama environmental group suspends water testing

Mobile Baykeeper, one of the largest environmental advocacy groups in coastal Alabama, announced Friday it is suspending its “Swim Where It’s Monitored (SWIM)” water quality testing.

“We know what this means,” Mobile Baykeeper said in an email. “Fewer updates and less reliable information about water quality at the places you care about.”

The SWIM program tests bacteria levels at certain sites around Mobile and Baldwin counties. The results are updated every week from April to September.
