Saturday morning turned grim on State Route 2 east of Monroe, where a two-vehicle crash left the highway fully blocked, killing two people and seriously injuring another, according to authorities. Troopers and emergency crews swarmed the scene, working through the wreckage and trying to keep traffic moving as best they could. The collision shut down the route around milepost 18 near Sofie Road and quickly tangled morning commutes across Snohomish County. Officials said there was no estimate for when the road would reopen.
