Buffalo man faces federal cocaine charge after mail parcel interception

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Buffalo man has been arrested and charged by criminal complaint with possession with intent to distribute cocaine after investigators intercepted a Priority Mail parcel containing approximately seven pounds of suspected cocaine.

Daniel Lopez-Rivera, 40, made an initial appearance Friday in federal court and was released on conditions. Prosecutors said he could spend up to 20 years in prison and face a $1 million fine.

According to the complaint, the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Drug Enforcement Administration have been investigating Lopez-Rivera. Authorities believe he is involved in “on-going narcotics activity in Buffalo.”…
