New Target Store Coming to Mebane, North Carolina

A major retail development in Mebane, North Carolina, is moving forward with Target as the anchor tenant. The project was approved in late 2024 and sits near Interstate 40 and Trollingwood-Hawfields Road. It is expected to bring new retail, residential, and infrastructure improvements to a fast-growing corridor.

Construction Reached Vertical Phase in 2025

Aerial imagery from November 2025 shows the Target building well beyond site preparation. Crews had poured a large concrete slab, and parts of the structure had already begun to rise. The visible footprint confirms that vertical construction was underway at that time.

More recent construction updates have not been independently verified. However, the level of progress seen in late 2025 shows the project had entered its main build phase.

Target Anchors 300,000-Square-Foot Development

The upcoming Target store is expected to span about 128,000 square feet. It will anchor a planned 300,000-square-foot retail center. Koury Corporation is developing the project at Trollingwood-Hawfields Road and Gregory Poole Lane, just off Interstate 40/85.

The broader development also includes residential units and supporting infrastructure. Together, these additions aim to support continued population growth in the Mebane area.

Site Transformation Over Time

Aerial imagery from 1993 shows the site as farmland and wooded land. By 2024, crews had cleared and graded the property. By November 2025, construction had advanced into the vertical phase.

Road Improvements Support Growth

The North Carolina Department of Transportation approved several roadway upgrades for the project. Plans include new turn lanes along Trollingwood-Hawfields Road and a connection to Gregory Poole Lane…
