TriMet: Renewable diesel up $2.15 a gallon since beginning of Iran war

PORTLAND, Ore. (KATU) — TriMet says the cost of fueling its buses has surged since the Iran war began in late February, driving up the agency’s weekly operating costs even as fares remain unchanged for riders.

Since Feb. 28, TriMet’s costs for renewable diesel have jumped by $2.15 a gallon, according to TriMet spokesperson Tia York.

TriMet’s current average weekly fuel consumption for fixed-route bus service is about 103,000 gallons of R99 renewable diesel, York said, meaning the weekly cost of delivering fixed-route bus service has increased by about $222,000 per week since late February…
