County civil service OKs director job for Rensselaer’s former acting mayor

RENSSELAER — Richard Mooney is no longer helping to manage Rensselaer government operations for free.

On April 14, civil service commissioners approved his novel title of city operations director as a non-competitive role following months of criticism from opponents of Mayor John DeFrancesco’s new administration over the job’s legitimacy and legality.
