Teen dead, another arrested after water gun fight on senior skip day turned violent in Tennessee

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — A 16-year-old is now facing charges after a 17-year-old was fatally shot during a senior skip day in Memphis, Tennessee, that started as a water gun fight.

Other teenagers in the area say they are now reconsidering partaking in the long-standing tradition.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office said the 16-year-old was arrested Friday on multiple charges after the shooting at Shelby Farms Park. Family friends identified the victim as 17-year-old Coriuan Bean, a junior at Millington Central High School, Nexstar’s WREG reports.

“I could have a house full of kids and he would be the one to help me with bringing groceries in or taking the trash out. He kept us laughing the entire time he was around,” a family friend of Bean told WREG. “His friends and anyone who met him loved him.”…
