WEST JEFFERSON, Ohio (WCMH) — An investigation into a body found near a West Jefferson creek has revealed that the identified woman resided in western Ohio.
According to a release from the West Jefferson Police Department, officers were dispatched to an area of Little Darby Creek near Martin Avenue and North Franklin Street where kayakers reported they found a woman partially in the water who they believed was dead.

WJP and the Jefferson Township Fire Department located the woman at around 5:11 p.m. Saturday, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. On Monday, authorities announced that the woman was 52-year-old Cynthia Wood, of Covington, Ohio, approximately 65 miles west from the location in which she was found.
