2 Mass. teens rescued from Mount Washington ahead of snowy night

A pair of young hikers from Massachusetts were rescued from the top of New Hampshire’s Mount Washington, where they faced harsh conditions Saturday evening, officials said.

The 17- and 18-year-old Plymouth residents called 911 about 7:30 p.m. from the top of the mountain, the tallest in the Northeast, to say they were sheltering from blowing precipitation and that one of the teenagers had significant leg pain, according to New Hampshire Fish and Game.

With snow in the forecast, officials contacted Mt. Washington State Park, where an employee went out into the 38 degrees and high winds to find the hikers and bring them inside, which they did by abut 8 p.m. The injured teen was given first aid, officials said…
