Albany bishop wants city to restart anti-violence program

ALBANY, N.Y. (WNYT)- A local pastor in Albany said he wants city leaders to bring back a past anti-violence effort to help curb youth gun violence.

Bishop Avery Comithier founded Pastors on Patrol in Albany several years ago. Comithier said the program helped reduce youth violence and he wants the current administration to support bringing it back.

Comithier believes Albany is in a state of emergency because many young people are arming themselves. He also said he believes there is a remedy for gun violence…
