Dauphin County diner suddenly closed after co-owner was jailed for relentlessly stalking a woman

One of the owners of the Highspire Diner, which suddenly closed without explanation, has been in jail since October for stalking and harassing a woman for most of last year.

David Obenstine, 51, of Harrisburg, was sentenced last week for felony stalking, but he has been in Dauphin County Prison since Oct. 1 after a series of incidents involving the same victim. The reports do not say how the woman knew Obenstine.

Four affidavits of probable cause filed by the Lower Swatara Township Police Department detail how he following her around, stopped by her work places, and made repeated unwanted calls. Police say he also tried to intimidate her inside an MDJ courtroom and that he called her expletives inside a county courtroom when his bail was denied Oct. 1…
