An 81-year-old California man is fighting for his life after being struck by a teenager riding what investigators described as an electric motorcycle designed for off-road use.
The incident, according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, occurred April 17 just before 4 p.m. near the intersection of Toledo Way and Ridge Route Drive in Lake Forest.

Details remain limited, and it is unclear exactly how the crash occurred, but department officials said the 81-year-old victim was walking in the area when he was struck by a 14-year-old boy.
Arriving deputies located the victim suffering from life-threatening injuries. Medical personnel with the Orange County Fire Authority rushed the man to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition.
“The suspect fled the area, and the ‘e-bike’ was determined to be an electric motorcycle designed for off-highway use,” OCSD officials said in a news release. “Witnesses were able to provide a description of the suspect, who was believed to be driving recklessly at the time of the crash.”
