Syracuse Common Council clarifies entertainment license applications after confusion

SYRACUSE, N.Y. — The Syracuse Common Council approved a revision that hopefully clarifies how a business goes about applying for entertainment licenses on April 6.

Businesses were mandated to apply for licenses for most events that could include large gatherings. The license would let city officials known when and where such events were being held.

The revised general ordinance defines an “Annual Entertainment License” and a “Large Crowd Event Entertainment License.” A business that is granted the Annual Entertainment License would have a valid license for a year. Meanwhile, an applicant who is granted a “Large Crowd Event Entertainment License” would only have a valid license for 24 hours…
