Truman Library exhibit opens featuring historic American documents

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) – A new exhibit at the Truman Library opened Monday featuring significant documents from American history on loan from the National Archives.

Opening the Vault: The Story of US opened in celebration of America’s 250th birthday. The exhibit will run through May 24 and features 21 original documents from the nation’s collection.

The documents include handwritten notes, revisions and signatures spanning from 1782 to 1971.

Documents span founding to modern era

The exhibit includes the Original Design of the Great Seal of the United States from 1782 and the Treaty of Paris broadside from 1783 that ended the Revolutionary War. The Bill of Rights Senate revisions from 1789 show early edits to the foundational amendments…
