After a beloved San Antonio cafe packed its bags at the corner of South St. Mary’s and King William Streets, the following weeks were filled with hectic preparation to get its new location ready to open.
The Station Cafe finally made its return on Monday, April 20, on the ground floor of 1010 S. Flores St. It’s now open for business, joining popular coffee shop and vintage store R + R Collective Co., an architect, a candle-making store, a brow studio and more in the strip — and though the space looks completely different, loyal customers will feel right at home with the menu.
Owner Jon Rowe told MySA that only minimal changes were made to the list of offerings, such as nixing the full pizzas and opting for single slices of cheese and pepperoni only, because the kitchen is smaller. In its original location, The Station Cafe was next door to Rowe’s other business, The Filling Station Tap Room, which closed in late March; however, Rowe said they’re working on transferring their beer and wine license to the new spot to finally join the pub and cafe concepts under the same roof…
