District 2 Councilman Jalen McKee-Rodriguez wants H-E-B to improve its store east of downtown San Antonio, a location residents have complained about.
In a letter to company executives last week, McKee-Rodriguez said residents “have consistently expressed a desire for greater investment” in the store at 415 N. New Braunfels Ave. and have compared it unfavorably with the selection and features of other H-E-Bs in San Antonio. He said the location is more than just a grocery store — it’s a “neighborhood anchor” that provides jobs.
“Expansion or modernization at the N. New Braunfels location would not only improve grocery access but also help retain purchasing activity in the district and reinforce confidence in the area’s economic future,” McKee-Rodriguez wrote…
