LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Officials with Little Rock’s Southwest High School said its school band recently scored big in competition.
The Southwest High School show-style marching band, the Supersonic Storm of the Southwest, or S3, earned Overall Grand Champion honors at the 5th Annual For the Culture: Battle of the Bands. Band Director Jose Holloway said the band also brought home first place in band and auxiliary in the AAA division.

S3 also received second place in the drumline competition, Holloway said.
The 5th Annual For the Culture: Battle of the Bands was held in Fordyce on Saturday afternoon, as bands from across the state competed for honors.
Holloway said that the weekend wins now bring the total to 70 trophies, awards and plaques for S3 in the past six years…
