We talk a lot about how bad Rockford drivers are, especially when it comes to roundabouts. Roundabouts seem to send people into a frenzy and they forget how to drive. But can we shift the spotlight for a second? Because there’s a much bigger issue we need to address.
People who have absolutely no idea whether they’re on a one-way street or not.
I never thought I’d see the day that I’d conquer one-ways in downtown Rockford. Honestly, I better have by now considering I’ve been living downtown for seven years. You learn quickly, or at least you should. But somehow, there are still a shocking number of drivers who just wing it and hope for the best.
And that’s where it gets a little scary.

Because with roundabouts, at least you can kind of anticipate confusion. But with one-way streets? You’re trusting that everyone else knows what they’re doing, and clearly, that’s not always the case…
