Waialua’s St. Michael School at risk of closing without enough students by Wednesday

WAIALUA, Oahu (KHON2) — A school that has served generations of North Shore families for more than 80 years is now at risk of closing — unless it can enroll enough students in just days.

St. Michael School in Waialua needs to reach at least 70 enrolled students by Wednesday to stay open. As of now, school leaders said they have about 64 verbal commitments — just short of their goal.

The possible closure comes just one month after the school and its church opened their doors as a hub for the community during devastating North Shore flooding…
