MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — A reported fire in McDowell County is impacting traffic on Interstate 40 heading west, near mile marker 91.
The right lane of Interstate 40 is closed three miles after Exit 94, Dysartsville Road, due to a non-vehicle fire, according to a North Carolina Department of Transportation notification. The closure started around 3:36 p.m. and is expected to end around 7 p.m.
N.C. Forest Service spokesperson Philip Jackson said the blaze is 1 acre and 90% contained. He said no injuries were reported and no homes or structures were threatened.
