Murder investigation underway after body found in burning vehicle in Middleburg

MIDDLEBURG, Fla. — The death of a person found inside a burning vehicle in early April has been ruled a homicide, according to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office.

Firefighters and deputies made the discovery on April 6 when while responding to a vehicle fire in Middleburg near County Road 218 and N. Mimosa Avenue. After the fire was extinguished, the body of a male victim was found, according to the sheriff’s office, and his cause of death was ruled a homicide following an autopsy.

Details of the victim’s age, name and appearance were not immediately known, nor the circumstances of his death. The sheriff’s office did not immediately detail the make or model of the vehicle…
