Lawrence Man Charged With First-Degree Murder in Grandmother’s Death
LAWRENCE, Kan. (LT) — A 25-year-old man from Lawrence has been formally charged with first-degree murder in connection with the strangling death of his 70-year-old grandmother. The Lawrence Times reports Marcus Cassella was charged in Douglas County District Court on Monday. Investigators say Cassella allegedly confessed to the crime in a call to police. First responders found the victim, Lynn Abrams, unresponsive in her bed early Saturday. She was declared dead at the scene. Abrams was a member of the board of the Kansas City Blues Society and an avid supporter of music in both Kansas City and Lawrence.
