MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) – The city’s planned new animal shelter, which is headed for approval by the City Council, is winning praise from former skeptics.
If the Mobile City Council approves the construction contract, as expected, the new facility will rise at the site of a former television studio on the West Interstate 65 Service Road. The design calls for 120 double-sided, climate-controlled kennels, an onsite clinic and attached surgical unit and eight play yards. It also will have more room for animal control officers, a dedicated adoption area and a roomy lobby for the public.
